GWA Guidelines for Entering Kindergarten
Students entering Kindergarten at George Washington Academy should have mastered the following academic, social, and behavioral milestones before entering school.
Language Arts:
Demonstrate both auditory and written recognition of first and last name
Recognize and identify all the letters of the alphabet
Math:
Recognize and identify numbers 1-50
Recognize and identify basic colors
Behaviorally:
Follow simple 1-2 step directions independently
Listen and articulate at an appropriate age level
Exhibit the independent motor skills in relation to: All bathroom necessities, putting backpack in cubby, putting on own coat/sweater, eating lunch, tying own shoes (or doing Velcro), wiping nose, etc.
Able to function in a social setting (getting along with others, sharing, taking turns, lining up, etc.)
